As a way of celebrating not only my new shiney Badge but also my new awesome WebCam I might join in with the ressurection of the Vlog Q & A thats been started up by a couple folks i’ve noticed recently (particularly JmeLove whos video i’d quite like to see so head on over there and ask something….too late she’s posted it already LINK)

Anyway Thank you to all my friends and readers, you’ve made this past year i’ve been using Xanga Awesome and I hope to be here and blogging for time to come!

Or more accurately Platonic and it’s relevence to Love is what i’ve been thinking about recently. Of all the various forms one can write or create a ‘love story’ the platonic version is by far the most moving and touching.

Thats not to say I dislike the idea of sex being involved in love or a love story, it of course has it’s own merits and can in certain ways deepen the connection between two people.

But the stories that deal with the love between two people who are in no way connected by family or sex are often so much more distictive and explore a deeply moving almost unattainable love often born out of respect or even duty sometimes. Like the story in ‘True Grit’ where the little girl admires and cares for the old gunslinger as much as he does for her, infact by the end they both ‘love’ each other but not in a way that needs anything sexual or physical.

A more grey area example would be ‘Leon the Professional’ where there is the slightly more distressing, father daughter kind of relationship with under tones of desire that is never acted upon.

Too often it seems that Love and loving someone is all mixed up with sex and sexual desire but I seems more and more to me that Love is far more complex and layered than that. To love someone is to attempt to reach an otherwise inexpressible desire to share your experiance, your perception and to get a chance to experiance someone elses.

Of course sex and attraction play a part, but they are not perhaps the sole purpose. The sense that you want to share the same space and time of the person you love is entirely apart from wanting to jump into bed with them.

The love developed within a family is more akin to deep and accepting trust and thats I suppose whats most alluring about stories about Platonic relationships, the people often despite what may be expected simply love each other for who they are and for how the world looks through their shared experiance, not for anything so potentially fleeting as desire or lust.

The usual story of the hero and heroine of a story eventually falling for each other and then sleeping together often has no where near the same impact or lasting romance in the mind than the mutual love and trust depicted in sexless stories. It would be nice if that more lasting and heartfelt love was more common in mainstream films and the like as I think it would be a better message.

Or like in the action film ‘The Island’ where for the first half of the film the characters are acting as if they had no knkowledge of sex but rather are more child like in the way they love, untill eventually they discover the further ‘options’.

Anyway I’m hoping to get somekind of story written on this very subject that i’ve been thinking about for a while, nothing exceptional i’m sure since there likely will be only one concept that i’m exploring, but just thought i’d see if I could explain my thinking before I did the story version

There is a Computer Game called ‘Sin’ and a few years ago they made an updated version of it called Sin Episodes: Emergance.

This is a very good but somewhat short game as it was ment to be the first in around 9 future episodes I think. Anyway after you complete it you unlock HardCorp mode which allows you to play the game WITHOUT the ability to save.

The AI of the enemies is pretty good and it has a dynamic feature that makes them harder the better you do and eases off if you’re struggling, you can alter how much or littel this dynamic feature functions at game start.

Okay preamble over here’s the deal!

I within the next few days will be attempting to beat the entire game in one sitting, I will set the difficulty at normal, so the AI help or hinderance will be balanced.

The chance are, since my play style relies on being able to save and reload many times to make it through a game I’m going to end up dead pretty soon…but I’ve been playing games for most…well all of my life so there’s a small chance I can make it through!

If anyone would like to place bets on if I make it or how far I make it then please leave your bet in the comments.

Your bet should be in the form of a percentage in jumps of ten, so 10% 20% 30% 40% 50% etc. after i’ve had my attempt i’ll judge the percentage via a walk through and the closest guess wins!….something not sure what but i’ll figure it out

After what seems like forever I’ve finally gotten round to drawing another couple heroes!

Truth is i’ve got loads of extra none Xangan characters to colour too, but they are also in waiting, perhaps in the next few days ya never know

Anyway today it’s time for the long awaited and often promised GrammarBoy!!! a terrible delay but I hope worth the wait.

Also up today is my second part to the great big ThankYou to Restless Butterfly for her kindness and general lovelyness, with her addition to the Legion.

And though I may say it myself her drawing is one of my better attempts, though her face could be more like reality the rest of it i’m really quite proud of.

Grammar Boy

A studious librarian who spent his days looking through the vast collections of old books hidden in the vaults of a large city library.
One day he found a strange book that though slim contained The Method, this ‘method’ once mastered allowed the librarian to learn anything he put his mind to almost instantly and with complete ability.

As he explored his new ability he began to gather a vast knowledge of skills and techniques, wisdom and prose. Eventually he decided to use his skills for good and having read and learnt from many comic books and having dealt with many examples of poor grammar he decided to become Grammar Boy.

Now with knowledge of almost all martial forms and many other seemingly incredible skills he fights crime with his deadly combo of his ‘FullStop’ Right hand and ‘Exclamation’ Left.

Restless Butterfly

A lab assistant at the wrong place at the wrong time when something from a hidden lower level lab escaped, the creature rampaged upwards eventually reaching where she worked. Trapped and in its path the assistant faced her fear and attacked to protect the rest of the staff.

She rushed the half insect, snake like man and struck it in the skull with a letter opener, incredibly its weak skull gave in and the beast slumped to the ground, in shock she didn’t move away quickly enough and as the creature hit the ground a final impulse sent its bladed tail deep into her chest.

She and the other victims were quietly buried in unmarked graves as a cover up fell into place.

But 6 months later something stirred. Within the shallow grave a cocoon had formed around the woman and within she was resurrected.
The Restless Butterfly returned to life now transformed by the creatures’ venom. Entirely immortal she has no fear, if any harm comes to her within a day she will re-grow back to perfect health. Her fearlessness and immortality have allowed her to fight with abandon and skill making her a deadly warrior and swordswoman.

In moments of great need she can also transform herself into a cloud of shimmering butterfly like creatures that can flow past obstacles and reform on the otherside. 

She is a wise and kind defender she is The Restless Butterfly.

Who knows perhaps I might even be posting up a few more drawings and maybe even some short stories in the near future…but with my track record don’t hold your breath.

Since we first crossed paths during the ASSCAT challenge she has voted for me, helped me get closer to a TRUE badge, commented on almost EVERY one of my posts and only yesterday gifted me Premium!.

At first she was just another commenter on Alex’s voting post for the ASSCAT and I rather cheekily replyed to her comment of not knowing who to vote for by suggesting she check out my submission. She did and not only voted for me but got her lovely niece to vote for me too.

After that we stayed in touch as just subbed to each other, and it was a while later that she commented on one of my posts with very helpful suggestions about how to reach TRUE status. For a TRUE badge you’ve got to have a high enough level of interaction on your account and a high number of posts, so Kriztina went through pretty much all of my archives posting a comment on each one, many (possibly all rather embarressingly since my early work was NOT good lol) she read, maybe it doesen’t sound much just reading a blog but that was all good time she could have been spending on something more enjoyable than helping out pretty much a stranger and that sort of kindness I always appreciate.

Obviously at this point I kept close track of her posts to return the favour of her efforts, and I was not dissapointed by her passionate and interesting view on life, poems, love and sex.

Shes welcoming, entertaining and always fun to read and get comments from.

And now shes given me 5 months of Premium!! I will be definately drawing her a superhero alter ego and adding her to the Xanga Legion since she is infact a genuine Xanga SuperHero

I hope I know her for a long time yet and will be able to return her generosity.
