    Who do you attract?

Each blog and blogger has their own theme and personality, sometimes it’s very particular such as mono bloggers (those that post only one type of thing) sometimes it’s more flexible but themed like when you blog about lots of stuff but with one overriding believe or style.

For me although i do have a style, it’s still a bit vauge. Mainly because i don’t do anything solidly enough to make it a theme, but also because my life thus far hasn’t given much focus to strong opinion or specific personality.

Because of this i’ve noticed some interesting things going on in my mind as i’ve been blogging.
For one since i sometimes have been blessed with a few well timed posts that have received a decent amount of traffic, which have often resulted in a few new friends adding me, this is of course brilliant but then leaves me feeling a bit bad when i move off the theme or subject that originally attracted the people who added me, and get onto something often entirely different.

Of course it’s often the person and mind that you add someone for not their theme, but still i get a sense of ‘pressure’ to do whats expected by my subs and friends, perhaps it’s just me being too concerned by what others think, but if i don’t keep changing my patterns on Xanga and keep exploring new styles and approaches then not only do i tend to get a bit bored and run out of ideas but i also begin to feel like i’m being moulded into someone thats not entirely honest to who i am.

It often seems to me that what we ‘do’ can help to form our minds and personalities, simply because there is a certain ‘type’ of person who fits certain roles so either through suggestion or just because thats what happens, we re-form into that type of person when we spend time in that role.

And i think it’s the same with Xanga, as we develope our style and grow our groups of subs and friends we start to build a kind of sympathetic world around us that reflects our personality and helps to strengthen it.

Theres nothing wrong with this process it’s how groups and communities start, but it can make me feel a bit trapped because when i start to feel my environment change my sense of ‘me’ I tend to panic a little and feel like i’m somehow being dishonest. So i don’t think my site will ever be all that solid in its focus and i’m sorry to anyone who may have thought i was something i’m not, you never know maybe i will be again soon ;)

Do you look for someone similar to your own mind and style here on Xanga? or do you try to mix it up?
And what sort of blog do you try to create? do you try to stick to something themed? or try to vary?

  • What do you think my blogging style is?  I remember when I first became known to the community I was the hopeless romantic fella haha.  I try to keep it mixed up now.

I don’t think your site have to be focused on one theme to be well liked.  I’m attracted to many different type of blogs, but I find myself gravitating towards blogs that are made by cool folks, such as yourself.

  • yeah my post about nice guys got my xanga the most traffic in its history. i’m not even sure why though, i didn’t write anything profound, just what i was thinking atm.

  • @Roadlesstaken - you like to use pictures to make a point which keeps the posts light-hearted and fun-spirited. funny, don’t think i’ve ever known you as the “hopeless romantic fella.” i like how some posts you make observations, though not ever in a condescending way so no one feels you are taking yourself too seriously. you have a funny, approachable style and i think ppl come back because you are genuine. and i mean both on xanga and in person. (sorry, couldn’t resist, had to respond, haha.)

  • @Roadlesstaken - Hehe always been a ladies man huh Alex? ;)

I suppose if i was going to pick a theme to describe your blog it would either be meet ups or maybe community.

but as you say your pretty mixed in theme, and thanks :D I do like to try and just post fun or interesting things, but i suppose i’ve also done quite a bit about blogging and social networks and of course the XL, but i think i’m more of a temporary theme type of guy.

@wyrdkismet - :) yea those are always the posts that go crazy the ones you didn’t think anyone would care about, i think my best post (traffic wise) got somewhere around 2000 views and i TOTALLY didn’t expect it.
I’d like to see your nice guy post (i think i remember it but i’m not sure) can you post a link?

  • @wyrdkismet - :D glad you did! thats exactly what i should have said had i been as focused or elloquent as you.

  • @wyrdkismet - That’s very flattering of you to say .  Ah yes, I used to write about relationships/girls a lot back in late 2008.  Calmed that down now haha.

  • i go on bouts of like taking myself WAY too seriously to posting some of the most random shit that entertains me. for the past i-dont-know-how-many years i’ve written about more serious subjects, the ones that keep me awake at night and i kind of use xanga as a kind of like resolve by expressing these feelings/thoughts. the best part about it is it remains an open discussion so it’s like having your thoughts heard. i’m a very light-hearted and fun person in the real world so i think that’s why i’m sort of the opposite here on xanga. i can be this deep-thinking serious person.

  • I guess I do look for people more my type….I’m so random! Lol. Seriously, I just hop around and read whatever. Lately I try to stay away from the sad depressing posts. I do prefer the happy, silly posts that make me laugh and the very thought provoking beautiful poems. So, because I’m so random, I don’t have a theme for my blog.

  • I go to random blogs. It depends on what type of theme I wanted to read on that day too. As for myself,I don’t even know what kind of writin style I’m in haha! Maybe more to personal ones?

  • I guess I don’t really right about specific really… well I sometimes write like once a month about religion except the last month or so… I write a lot of love and or heartbreak and personal experience… i don’t know… I don’t think I have a specific genre. I like to keep my options open. :)

  • I’m not attracted to one type of blog. I love visiting so many profiles because there are so many varied ones out there, makes for an interesting read. :)

  • Okay, me now! What would you say my style is? lol
I can’t just blog about one thing, as I’m far too varied in my interests and day-to-day changing focuses. Haha. And I don’t want 40 blogs, so mine changes up. I likes to keep ‘em guessing.

I add anyone and anything that catches my eye when I see it. No particular theme I look for.

  • @dooE - Yea it’s nice to use Xanga to exercise the parts of your personality you don’t often show in RL, thats kind of what i use it for too.
    Thanks for the Add :D

@livexlovexlaughter - Well your a special case beacuse your so weird lol :P
And as far as i’ve seen your latest theme is to not post anything!, when are you going to be back on Xanga full time again? :)

@Hdyhadon - Yea i’d say your quite personal, mostly about think that are currently concerning you…but i’ve not known you long enough to tell properly yet :)

@pinktiger335 - You always seem like your very analytical and thoughtful, you study behaviour and thought patterns then try to figure them out with your posts.
I enjoy how your mind works through your writing.

@beauty_is_truths_smile - Yes it’s wonderful to be exposed to so many different lives and experiances, we are an endlessly unique race, despite our many commonalities.

@wyrdkismet - Thanks :D yes i had seen it, and Rec’d it in fact lol
    It was a good post.

@justjase - Ah well i’ve not really known you for long enough, but roughly i get the sense your pretty varied, but with a sort of light and perhaps even satirical feel.
Your also clearly a talented writer and artist which comes through in your posts.

  • @BFB1131 - I’ll take that!    haha

  • You called me weird? Oh no!! That’s it!! My claws are coming out! Where’s my Amalia, so we can do a double whammy on you?
You are right, I don’t post, all my time is spent talking with your brother from another mother. Lol. Maybe my Sugar Muffin can distract him long enough for me to post, then again, I kinda just don’t feel like it.
    Take care Bey!

  • @livexlovexlaughter - Now just what exactly dose a double whammy entail?….because that might be fun :P
And where is my Bro from another mo? not seen him around for ages, what have you done with him? ;)

Ah well you’ll certinaly have one reader if you ever do feel like it :D

  • I have no preference as long as fellow bloggers being nice too me and to other bloggers I’ll visit and read their blog-posts.

  • @RestlessButterfly - Yes good point :) the approach of the blogger is also important, polite and friendly folks are always nice no matter subject.

  • @BFB1131 - Double Whammy=both of us gang up on you and beat you up! Lol. Your Bro from another mo, hehe, I kidnapped him ;) . Haha If I ever post, I’ll have to send out a memo, everybody prolly thought I died, you will be first on my list to contact!
