  • What The Dickens.

I was going to post somekind of self absorbed moan about my life, but you know what? I want to give people a reason to be a little happier so I hope you’ll enjoy the true life story of Dickens The Cockroach :)

One day many years ago we (me my brother and folks) were sitting down to breakfast and we opened a small box of Bananas, within was much as you might expect…a bunch of bananas, but hidden at the bottom of the box was also a pretty decent sized Cockroach.

This Cockroach was pretty slow and clearly not enjoying his new climate, so we did what we could to furnish him with a home (a large plastic screw top jar half filled with soil) and popped him on the window sill.
At this point we’d not thought of a name for our new found pet, and I remember we were all sitting around trying to think up a name while i was reading a Beano comic and kind of out of the blue i suggested the name Dickens, which for want of something better we all agreed to.

Although i don’t exactly recall how long we had Dickens, it was certainly long enough for him to dig many tunnels in his small patch of ground, and as far as we could tell he ate the globs of mashed Banana we left for him.

For the most part though we rarely if ever saw Dickens once he was in his jar, and even after we decided he must have past away hidden somewhere under the ground we never confirmed it for sure.

It was a rare and unique event the life of Dickens the Cockroach, never again did we find something living in our fruit (to our knowledge anyway) and when you think of the journey that little Cockroach had been on to get from his home all the way out to the west coast of Scotland it’s quite remarkable really.
So I always fondly remember Dickens the great traveling Cockroach.

(as you may or may not be able to guess, i’ve had a couple glasses of wine tonight, so forgive any extra oddness to this post ;P )

  • Bring your Pens

    Okay here’s the deal.

There’s another blog site i sometimes use, well i only recently started on it and i’m hoping to mainly use it for writing short articles and hopefully earning some extra cash, since it has many intergrated features for monetizing your pages.

But they just recently announced a poetry competition which i’m going to have a shot at (despite not having much of a hope) and with all the fine poets and writers on Xanga i thought i’d share the oppertunity.

So check it out HERE But i’d also like to suggest if you are tempted and are not currently a member of HubPages that you sign up via THIS LINK if you do follow this link and then sign up your account will be added to a list of accounts that i have reffered and if you generate any income from the ads on your Hubs i’ll get a bonus for having brought you to the site.

I don’t really mind what way you sign up but if you do follow my link and like HubPages then let me know and we can work together to try and make both our accounts as profitable as possible.

Now another option would be (if your not up for joining Hubpages and the competition) to write something you’d like me to post up on my account and if I benefit in anyway from the contest then i’ll split it with any contributers. I’m not a massive fan of this idea because i’m not sure i’d be able to credit those that helped out within the rules of the contest, and i’d feel a bit bad since it wasn’t my work, but chances are mw on my own isn’t going to be very impressive so it’s an option.

Anyway check it out if you fancy, i’m sure a lot of the writers on Xanga would do pretty damn well and could stand to earn a nice bit from it :) Oh and if you do sign up make sure you go through adding some of the monetization systems, such as Amazon and adwords in your ‘earnings’ section of the account page, may aswell add the oppertunity to earn something.

  • Video Haiku No.3

    Only one this time.

  • Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow.

Detractors of Blogging say that it’s basically just a bunch of people all talking about random junk of no interest to anyone or the minutiae of daily life, such as the incredulous accounts of the blog someone did about all the things he could see in his bedroom.

But I think that to judge blogs so harshly is to ignore all the art, community, support, friendship and even romance that is just as much a part of places like Xanga as the actual text.

But this is all old news, we all now know blogs are an important part of modern life and society, so lets get to the important stuff….

    I got a haircut! ;)

  • Xanga Legion: New Hero!

Took me Way too long to get around to this Apologies to bloggicus_maximus and even more apologies to GrammerBoy who is still! waiting :S

But for now I hope both Bloggicus and Xanga will enjoy MAXIMUS!!! :D

(i’ll be honest i’ve veered a little close to Hulk territory here but I think i still made it my own ;)

    @bloggicus_maximus

    Maximus:
Was a down on his luck wrestler who after a particularly intense match was approached by a mysterious scientist who offered a unique opportunity.

The scientist had discovered how to unlock a specific part of the brain that allowed for active control over the cells of the body. The process was extremely dangerous and potentially lethal but with the right person with an immense level of strength and fitness it was theoretically possible.

Though dubious Maximus agreed, the process almost killed him but the results were far beyond anything predicted.

Now able to directly control his own physical form in a deeper way than any other living creature Maximus can change his size and structure as if he were made of liquid, instantly reforming into whatever seize or shape he desires. But even more incredibly he has gained a sense of force and control over impact shock waves generated from within his Maximised system.

With these combined powers Maximus is a fearsome presence able to resist incredible damage and crush entire buildings.

Some I hardely know, others I truely Love, but all are something untill Xanga i didn’t really have too many of…Friends!! :D

So how dose all this make me feel?….well…

  • ‘Sold your soul for senseless gain’

(Title a rather appropriate lyric from Barkley James Harvest)

    So whats my problem?
Well rather boringly it’s about money.

Basically my family is pretty damn poor, we live in comfort but we are only just holding on, and since i’m pretty much totally unemployed (or employable, due to lack of any qualifications and a pretty rubbish small area economy) I’ve been using the Internet to try and generate an income.

This is not as easy or quick as the online money guys tell you it is!!….yeah big suprise huh? :S

Problem is that while your working towards this stuff you get hit with loads of sales stuff about ‘short cuts’ or ‘new systems’ some of them are good…some are cons, but all of them can be distractions to just focusing on ONE system untill you’ve started to earn and THEN you can go and spend your profits on other routes.

But sadly this rule was not held to recently and another huge outlay has been added to the bill…which in turn adds to the pressure and guilt i’m already piling onto myself.

But the real double whammy is the fact that it took a lot of careful re-education of myself to not judge internet marketing as a bad thing, which is what it so easily can be. Theres so much i don’t like about it that things get tricky if i start to forget all the goodsides….and this new purchase which is supposed to make us rich, is just all kinds of wrong in my book.

It wasn’t entirely my call, but i could have stopped it if i’d just had a god damn spine, but no i folded to what i didn’t believe in or agree with and now i’m stuck even more guilty, working on a project i don’t believe in and unable to get on with the systems i actually do like. And if that wasn’t enough my whole confidence is now shaken in what i’m trying to do.

I’m seriously at the point where i just agreed with myself that i’d do whatever i could to start earning badly needed funds….but i’ve over the last day had to face the choice between my principals and morals and money, it’s pretty fucking horrible. I stress myself easily enough but with the pressure of needing money and then facing this dilemma….it’s been a sucky day.

Urrrggh, I hate this and i’m not a big fan of whining either, but sometimes you just gotta vent :|

And it once again gives me a really good reason to go all gooey over Xanga and my friends.
I’m not often here asking for support or laying my problems out but even just with my pulse it really dose mean so much when people come by to help out and encourage, it’s one of the most wonderful features of the internet (and yes it’s better than porn :P ) so THANK YOU :D

Best thing about to day was the comments on my pulse :D …..and watching CougarTown :P
