  • Whats the Point?

(I was looking for a more appropriate image but found this and couldn’t resist hehehe)

When i’m at my lowest emotionally it’s usually got something to do with a sense of pointlessness.

There are a few things i enjoy and spend my time on and other things i spend my time on i don’t really enjoy, but nothing so far has had that special quality that lasts or gives me a enduring sense of purpose. Best i can do is get into something for a while but then i just go back to my usual routine, and that routine pretty much consists of doing nothing, i’ve learnt no skills so far to any exceptional level and although there are things i could see me doing for a long time, in practice i don’t et round to it, I just end up waiting.

I’ve heard of people finding the one thing they were ‘ment’ to do or thier lifes purpose, and quite frankly this concept just bewilders me. How can one thing last an entire life? we change so quickly and so often that from my own experiance there’s nothing that can keep revealing new things or keep my attention and my enjoyment for that long.

So i’m kind of hoping it’s just because i’ve not found it yet or maybe my thing is a relationship and family, which i’ve yet to explore.

But i’d like to know what (if anything) anyone else has found, is there somthing or better yet someone in your life that is your reason to live? are you doing what you love? Or have you already spent your life doing it? and how did you find it or it find you?

  • I can’t say I’ve found one thing in my life. I do have multiple things that I turn to that give me a sense of purpose. I mean, I’ve learned to dance, I’m teaching myself to draw and play guitar, and I’ve always been pretty good at writing. So I basically cycle through these things. I did have someone…but I got caught up in too many things, and I lost her. I found everything because I realized I had some talent in them, and because they were beautiful to me.

It’s all about the art, bro

  • @Toy_Kite - Good answer! :D Thanks man.
Doing things for the beauty of them is always of value.

  • What’s the meaning of life, huh? Not the easiest question to answer, Bede. But I think that attaining happiness wherever you may find it is what drives us all. Call me Captain Obvious I guess. Lol

    Great post, dude.

  • I haven’t found one thing that has been able to occupy me, and reading this, I heard a lot of… myself, in your words. And I agree with SuperLuc, happiness, I think, will help with that, and I haven’t always been that happy of a person. Which is why I want to change things up a bit, and take my life down a different path. But, really, this is something that you need to discover for yourself, is what I’ve learned… good luck!

    Great post.

  • Ostrich!!! Did you know that the eyes of the ostrich are bigger than its brain? I love birds and I’m a nerd. Hahaha. That definitely made me happy.

And oh btw, Bede, this is my amazing boyfriend, Justin, @BlindSight22 .

@BlindSight22 - Justin, this is one of my best friends here on Xanga, Bede. :)

  • I cross my fingers to keep my health and am grateful to be just an ordinary person that can breathe without difficulty. I can relate to what you’re saying. I have never done any great thing like reaching the top of Mount Everest or any great art or stunt. We have life and this is in itself extraordinary….You are doing fine. This is one of the best post iv’e read today because it says something that we are not always comfortable to admit about ourselves especially to others  Thank you.. Love…

  • @SuperLuc - It may sound obvious but often we over look what we think of as obvious so it’s always important to be reminded of it.
    Thanks Luc :)

@BlindSight22 - Well it’s encouraging that i’m not the only one who struggles with this stuff :)
I suppose it’s just more flexible than we imagine, so to expect one thing to do it for us forever is perhaps a bit too fanciful.
Better to become comfortable with less consisency, and to just follow whatever makes us happy at the time.

Thanks Man :) and thanks to Ritz’s nice introduction it’s a pleasure to meet you Justin.

@Rainboxx - Hahaha so that must mean most of it’s brain is taken up with visual processing, it must be one seriously thick bird hehe
Thanks for the random Ostrich trivia Ritz ;)

And for the lovely introduction :) I only recently added the amazing Justin as a friend actually.

    @locomotiv - Thankyou :D
What a wonderful comment! and so true, I sometimes forget that each and every thing is an incredible wonder.
I hope you have a fantastic day :D and love to you too.

  • Hmmm….that’s some tough questions. I would say, if you’re passionate about something or someone, it can last a lifetime. Passion has all elements of emotions, happiness, love, craving, longing…. Even in a job, if you are passionate about it, it will give you that sense of fullfillment, rewarding, accomplished. The point is, to me, keep searching till you are passionate.
Reason to live….YOU should be top priority for your reason to live.
Good luck. Love the picture! Haha

  • I need answers myself. I feel pointless doing nothing .. lol

  • @livexlovexlaughter - Thats very true, thank you Cat :)
I just need to try more things i suppose.

  • @jennylovve - Yeah it’s a sucky feeling, but from the comments people have posted here i reckon there’s an answer.
Just keep that interest in everything around you, find your passion and be comfortable with who YOU are no matter what.

  • Wring out every ounce of experience from the present…the here and now.

Revel in the scents, the sounds, the vibrations on your skin, the heat, the cold, the conscious thoughts and the fleeting perceptions that surround you today.  You can only live in the present.  Make the most of it.

Time travel is possible but to the extent of man’s knowledge today, it is only possible in the forward direction and only at the pace at which time unfolds.  One day the earth will be engulfed in the expanding heat of a dying sun.  It will be burned to a cinder and then disintegrate into dust and swept away by the solar wind.  We are very temporary.

    But YOU…you have the present.

    Peace,
    SR

  • @Slag_Runner - There’s nothing i can add to that you said it all :)
Thankyou this is a valuable message and very well put.

  • Yuck! Ugly creature!
