(damn never thought doing a Terminator referance would make me feel old lol)
Okay so tomorrow at 3:40 something i’m getting on a bus to begin a 500 mile journey down south to my uncle in Cambridge.
So first off i’d like to say to all the new friends i’ve gotten recently….Don’t think that i’m one of those super boring bloggers who vanishes right after you sub/friend them, i’ll be back in two weeks and even before that i might be able to get a chance on a machine, so my completely random and often pointless posts will be back soon lol
Also thanks to all my new friends it’s always nice to have new people to read and interact with and i’m still a bit shy when it comes to adding people so i love it when you guys invite me and all i have to do is accept.
Secondly there are loads of great Xangans comming back after short breaks that i’m gonna super miss such as HelloKitty0809 who has finally aced her various tests and such and is now back to Xanga, and there’s DaysLikeThis who also was abscent for a few days and (hopefully) is now back, there’s also a guy called LibrisofVanity who writes nice poems and went into the military recently but is now back and with luck will be posting again soon.
But most exciting of all is AdamsWomanFell who was AdamsWomanLost and had to quit Xanga for personal reasons, but shes back and Xanga is a brighter place for her return. I love all of these wonderful Xangans and am so grateful to all of Xanga for the friendship and interaction it has given me. And yes i am aware that for someone going away from his computer for two weeks this is getting a bit melodramatic but i’m seriously going to miss this site and all the people here so i just wanted to say thanks
Okay now for some random thoughts and stuff about travel.
I quite like busses for long trips, they are less uncomfortable than most cars (in my experiance) and you get the chance for random interesting encounters with fellow passengers…plus they are cheap lol
So i’m quite hoping for someone interesting to sit near (wish me luck), or failing that then no one to sit near so i can get more space and get lost in my thoughts…or my DS…oh actually thats another cool point i recently got this DS and it’s got all manner of fancy wireless interaction options…but since i live in the middle of knowhere noone else has one >:( so maybe with luck during my trip i’ll be able to find another DS users somewhere on the bus and play some wireless games etc, should be quite exciting.
Another interesting thing about long trips and spending time away from your ‘home’ is that along with people and place we also carry with us a cloud of thoughts that ‘live’ in certain locations, like when you’ve been gone for a while from a very familiar place and when you return it feels strange and sort of alien, then as you slowly get re-aquainted with your old routines and habits so the building or location becomes more like it was.
This effect was very strongly highlighted to me once when i had been away for a while from home and as we drove back along our road lots of old ways of thinking and mind games, images etc came flooding back all of a sudden, and i realised that along with leaving the ‘place’ i’d actually left my ‘self’ to some extent.
So when we travel or spend time away from our ‘normal’ we actually have to rebuild our minds and our characters. Going down south is always a massive culture shock for me since i’ve spent so long away from crowds, cities or any form of population, so it’s always very clear that i actually have to change my pace and way of doing things in a big way just to be able to respnd correctly when there.
And if you then think about what all that means then it becomes clear that the ‘me’ that we are comfortable with is simply in part just a creation of our minds, locations and those around us which can be re-arranged and re-formed depending on need, this not only allows for greater flexiblity and comfort in ‘alien’ enviroments but also makes me slightly nervous that relativly little changes could be magnified by the change in mind and personality to the extent that you might not want to be who you were once you’ve left.
Anyway once again not sure where all this ends other than it’s worth examining your own mind when things change and find out what and why you are who you are, and if perhaps there are things you could do without or want to keep in your personality.
I will try to take a few shots while on my trip and when i’m there and post up a trip gallery once i return, maybe for a change i’ll have some interesting stories to tell hehe.
