  • Is everything Sales?

I’ve been learning Internet Marketing recently, and while doing so it began to dawn on me that almost everything is one form of sales or manipulation.

Of course there are selfless acts but on the whole in the UK anyway the system of politness and social pressure means that everyone is constantly expecting something from someone and whatever they do is with the expectation that it will earn them something in the future, and even if you are genuinely trying to be helpful you still end up having to convince someone of something.

I sort of wish there was a way to just share knowledge without having to advocate it, without the other person assuming thats Your opinion.

It just leaves me feeling dishonest i suppose because i don’t actually believe in waht i’m saying most of the time, just because well you really can’t be ‘sure’ of anything, but if i think something is valuable then the only way anyone else is going to listen is if i really ‘Sell’ the idea and my belife in the use of it.

And then theres the effect that if you sell something like a self help product really quite hard and keep on with the follow up and contact your actually helping the person to keep to the program that they need and perhaps without your pressure they’d have given up and would not recive the benefit they wanted.

But that’s such a fine line to tread between helping and being pushy, what if they just don’t want it?
