The big time
Exciting things sometimes happen up here in the middle of nowhere
On Wednesday I was a one day Production Assistant for a film shoot!
Well for a perfume ad shoot, and ‘production assistant’ is the fancy word for the guys that carry the heavy stuff
but it was a fun day all the same.
And best of all I got paid for it
The guys I was with were a nice example of local folks, one from Spain, another was Danish and then me and the last of our team are English lol so a nice local Scottish groupwell we do all live locally so it still counts.
The shoot was loooooong and wet and I really was impressed by the patience and lack of complaint from the male actor/model who had to stand about jacket less while looking dramatic and quite literally windswept if not snow swept at times :S
We began at 6am and only finished at 8pm -_- and despite the vast majority of that time being standing about doing nothing time it was still enough to knacker me for most of today, plus camera equipment is heavy.
Anyway should I find it online at some point there will be a Yohji Yamamoto ad that I know a LOT about to post

Ah, how exciting, Bede!! It sounds like a wonderful experience. Hopefully this will open more doors of opportunities for you in the future.
Wow, how fun and exciting!
Maybe they can ask you to be a male model in a perfume ad
That scenery is beautiful and dramatic! What a great place to shoot film of any kind. Next thing we know, you will be a professional p.a., schlepping across the country, meeting famous people and doing fabulous things!
Fun fun! The closest I was to a movie was that Transformers was filmed here in DC. Only a short spot.
wow that sounds exiting! I thought they’d do this kind of stuff in studio only!
Thats cool!!that was a good experience…
@olwd – i didnt know that
.have u seen megan fox???
sounds like fun. i wish i can do that over here. be an assistant in a film production.
Whenever me and my friends or my family go hiking, it becomes my duty to carry heavy stuff
I am sort of jaded about filming crews. There are catering companies that provide food and lots of electrical wiring for the lighting.
The film crews get job location folks to scout out scenery and they post signs for the film crews to find the exact spot.
Chinatown does not have that many filming crews fortunately because when film crews shoot outdoors they often have to shut down traffic and make cars go around that area.
The recession is easing up and more filming is being done all over because it is often cheaper to film away from Hollywood. You know you are a pro when they ask you to join the film actor’s guild or some sort of organization where the pay is more because you are not temporary help or an extra.
@xxMissforbiddenfruitxx – no dear, wasn’t pat of movie myself.
Wow! How cool, Bede!!! I’m glad you got to be involved in this! YAY for the guy who carries the heavy stuff!

They shoulda’ used you as a male model!
HUGS!!!
