Strange things from the UK

Okay so first off I was sitting in one of our upstairs rooms the one I use for my computer and I was talking to a customer who was having some computer issues. So I'd logged into her machine remotely to see what was going on and half way through I noticed a strange sort of beep noise and then some fluttering.

Looking behind me I had to say a sentance I never imagined uttering. "Sorry Maggie but I'm going to have to call you back, because a Bat has just flowen into the room"

This little chap (or chapette didn't check tbh) somehow got into the house I have no idea how or when and was flying in circles around and around near the ceiling O.O

So I called my dad in turned off all the lights and monitor and opened the windows, but it didn't seem to care about all that and just kept circling. Eventually we went off and told my mum and brother and after everyone had confirmed this rather strange event hehe we finally managed to catch it in a bag (the grey one you can see in the pic) and pop it out the window.

The tiny thing just sat there for a while then slowly crawled to the edge and flew off.

The second bit of news is just too perfectly English to be ignored.

I was listening to a satirical radio show this morning called the News Quiz. They have questions involving current news events and aparently, a London tube station was closed down recently due to a potential terrorist threat, when at least three people collapsed.

It turns out though that the reason for their health problems was far more silly than scary.

Due to the recent cold weather in London and the UK everyone has wrapped up warm and then when the weather changed to become slightly warmer, everyone kept wrapped up warm...and then they got on the tube and still didn't take off any layers until they overheated and passed out wtf

For a country that makes talking about the weather look like a national past time this has got to be the silliest potential terrorist event in history LOL

Anyway hope everyone is having a nice weekend :) and you're not either being attacked by creatures of the night or have enough sense to take off a few layers if you are over heating -_-

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I am sure the UK has many other strange things other than bats, I wonder how the heck he got in though?!

Aww, cute little thing.  I'm glad he was alright.

You can understand how they'd think it was an attack when 3 people did it.  We are ridiculously delicate creatures.

Weird about the bat. Wonder if it was also over heated.  Lol. ;)

I see bats where I live in the early evening flitting about above me trying to catch their dinner.

haha that's why I absoloutely hate going anywhere in winter. Going out isn't so bad after all we do have thick clothes, but when you go in somewhere to buy things it's extremely warm, so either you freee or you sweat.

I have the Friday Night slot on Radio 4 as an iTunes download. The New Quiz has been on a roll this series and since I usually listen to it on my way to work at 6.30 in the morning I must look like a fool laughing to myself in the gloom.

Awww poor little thing. I'm glad you helped him go free. That is indeed an odd terrorist attack! We have to bundle up here but have the sense to take off layers when we get inside, surprised they didn't notice the heat! :)

I had a bat incident when I was a boy. I got blamed for it's getting in because there was a hole in my window screen which I didn't make. (no AC in those days) Looking back, I can't see how a bat with the wingspan they have could have flown through that little hole.

Sometimes we hear bats at night in the summer, but we never see them.

Random bat attack! Yay, I'm not the only one! When I was in college I went to the top floor of the library to study and a bat came through the vent into the study lounge. It flew around for a few minutes then landed behind a chair. I tried to grab it so I could take it outside and the little bastard bit me! So I said fine, screw you then! and went back to my dorm. I don't know what happened to it after that. Unfortunately I didn't develop any bat-related superpowers from the bite, either. Maybe if it had broken the skin I'd be punching bad guys right now.

That bat is cute. At least no one got bitten, since they can carry rabies.

I think it would be cool to have a pet bat. I would have tried to keep the thing and tame it.

@Endless21Echos - Haha yeah they are quite common around us, but never had one in the house I don't think, and the windows are rarely open in Winter. We did also have a robing knocking to get in in the middle of the night a fe days ago o.O

@lanney - Yeah I love bats they are so pretty :)
Lol yes it is a strange combo of incredible resiliance and terrible weakness, sometimes it's impossible to see how Humans managed to survive for so long.

@buddy71 - Hehe It most certainly wasn't too warm up here :S Down in London it might be getting warmer but I live the other end of the UK and it's not getting any warmer here trust me :P

Yeah there are barns close by to us and often several bats going about their nightly business :)

@fabolousclown - Hahaha So you are Batgirl??? do you have a secret mansion and a Batmobile? ;)

@under_the_carpet - Lol yeah I have to admit as much as I complain about it I prefer to be able to wear lots of clothes without over heating rather than always being too hot.

@holeinyoursoul - Haha it is a good show :) esspecially when Jeremy Hardy gets on a roll :P

@EmilyandAtticus - Yeah They are really nice little creatures and always so much more tiny than I expect.
Lol yes well one of the other panellists mentioned that aparently it is often so crowded that you literally can't move enough to take off layers :S so that might have had something to do with it.

@quest4god@revelife - Aww harsh you got blamed, why would you willingly puncture your own screen? :/
But I'd guess the thing probably landed on the screen then crawled in rather than flying, they are quite good at getting about on legs and claws.

@HisDownAzzChick - He wasn't too bad :) I quite like bats so long as they don't try to bite me. I think all our bats are insect eaters anyway so no real worry about them.

@Marica0701 - Yeah mostly thats the same here, unless you spend a while looking up and try to spot them, but they move so quite and silently it's really tough.

@carolinavenger - Aww no super powers :( that sucks!
Next time you'll need to make sure to blast the bat with radiation before it bites you ;)

Probably lucky it didn't break the skin, since you'd maybe have had to be checked out for stuff then.

@uru_n_imi - Yeah pretty sure the Bats we have here are only interested in Moths, but i'd still not like to test that theory :P

@Shining_Garnet - Yeah :D Just dropped in to say hi and see if we had any tastey moths probably.

@wyrdkismet - Wow You'd have needed two sparkly jumpers with that sort of temp ;)
When it is that changeable I think it's even harder than an extreme of either, because you end up having to bring clothing for all occasions -_-

@theartofsexy - Not too common an occurance in the UK...although we have had a few hot summers recently.

@n_e_i_l - Haha yeah I guess, but you'd have to become noctural to spend any time with it ;)

Bats always fly left when they leave a cave

As far as mammals go, male bats also have the highest level of homosexuality.

The things I know about bats ... thought you might want to know

@Zissu25 - Yeah I like em too :)

@Ampbreia - Lol maybe, if it comes back again I might consider it ;)

@Crystalinne - Yeah I was surprised it hung about once we'd got it, but glad to see it was okay and free :D
