Well this is an odd one…why would I take a photo of something I wanted to forget? :/
Also I can’t really pick a ‘bad’ event in my life because they are all good for just as many reasons as they are bad so i’ll pick something silly instead
*Warning this post contains spoilers for the film Enter the Void, I think the film sucks…but if you did want to be surprised by the predictable ending then don’t read on*
This is the title and pormotional image from a film called ‘Enter the Void’ I sat through this almost 3 hour long endurance experiance and only enjoyed the first 20mins -_-
It’s not a bad concept as films go. It is highly influanced by the Tibetan Book of the Dead and basically follows a young guys soul as it tries to leave the mortal world after his sudden death (shot in a bathroom in Tokyo for being dumb and carrying drugs…and then being EVEN dumber and shouting to the police ‘I have a gun’ when he actually didn’t) but despite the concept the execution is painful for so many reasons.
First the camera is mostly a top down view while waving from side to side or turning slowly in an unnerving and sickening way…and this goes on for 70% of this 3 HOUR long film!
Second it’s borderline incestouous, because this guys soul not only enters for a moment the body of a man who is having sex with his sister O.O but then in the end of the whole long painful process of the film ends up becoming the new child as it it created at the moment of conception, within his sister at the ‘climax’ (forgive the pun) of the film.
And this brings me to the worst bit of this entire thing…the camera which is following a disembodied soul, does NOT miss anything, including plenty of needlessly graphic sex…and then a VERY detailed close up of a CGI moment of conception…every detail. :S It was not something I ever wanted to see in that much detail…ever
At the end of the movie I was creeped out, bored, annoyed and cursing myself for wasting 3 hours of my life that I could have been using to have fun and not have my mind poisoned by weird ass images that just won’t fade.
I like odd films, but I don’t like ones that try too hard or use needless nudity to be ‘cool’.
