  • Rec-ing Reasons

    This is a question that must have been asked hundreds of times before but now it’s my turn :P

    So Why do you hit the REC button? do you have set criteria or is it pretty random?

    For me I think I mostly REC because a post shows some kind of fun or makes me smile, I tend to see REC-ing as both a reward for the blogger and a way to get them more views because I think what they wrote or made is worth it and would benefit other readers as it did me.

    Another big reason for my REC’s is support, if someone needs input or looks like they could do with a few more comments i’ll REC to try and give them a bit of a traffic boost.

    I also have to admit if someone asks for a REC i’ll usually do it.

    As for Comments, well I VERY rarely REC those but I will do sometimes if they really make me laugh or have a uniquness to their point.

    So over all my primary reasons are:

    1: Made me Laugh or Smile.

    2: Blogging Skill or a valuable point.

    3: Support + More traffic.

    What inspires you to click that little heart?

  • Because…
    1. I heart it… obviously.
    2. If it’s funny, I want to share the laughter. If the entry is kind of needing support/comfort/encouragement, ReC-ing is the least thing I can do.

  • I say those 3 reasons are good ones . If it’s something that catches my eyes, most of the time i’ll fill that other xangans need to witness it and see it for their-selves

  • I think I’ve only Rec’d one comment. I’m annoyed with Rec’d comments for the most part. What’s worse, to me, is when people share their own comments.

    I Rec posts because they’re either creative/crafty (relating to crafts), express my opinions or beliefs, or make me laugh. And the occasional Rec is when people request Recs so that they can get more views and help from others.

  • Mostly I rec’ the people I like so very much.

    Example: ‘Now where the heck is your REC button?’

  • I have many reasons to rec, most of the times I rec something I think everybody or some of my friends should read. Happy funny posts I rec cuz I think it’s necesary to spread joy. Stories I rec because I find something unique about it, like yours that the use of colours and the wormth of the characters always make me want to read more. And I rec stuff when a friend wants to be heard rather the friend ask for it or I just feel like my friend wants to be heard about something I rec it

    Missed you so much yesterday

  • Uhh… what you said. :D

  • I really like publicizing the work of my Xanga friends. Most of us write to be read. So by rec’ing I’m supporting those people who I think write great content.

  • I mostly rec because I want to share what I just read, to support the blogger and help build the community

  • I have personally only “REC’D” twice. I think though that it was not because of anything particular, I just didnt think of it.

    I think from now on I will be more apt to do so as I like to see that my work was “REC’D” and  to me that means “I liked it and had to share”

    Like sharing a good story. One that you can’t just keep to yourself. I will not REC those ones. :)

  • I rec if someone needs something, or if I thought it was a particularly interesting, informative, or funny post. Basically if I think other people should read it, I’ll rec it.

    Here’s some extra credits to help with changing your name.

  • I rec’d this because you wrote it =P

  • I click it to get the word out and if I enjoy the content of the post. Sometimes I will click is if there blog made a very good point about something I’m passionate about

  • I think I’d put everything I just “like” such as artwork, good writing, and funny into one point…and then there’s the “good point” category…mh and there is stuff that is plainly interesting.
    I someties hold myself back, and try to consider what the people on my friend list find interesting too.
    I usuaslly don’t rec when people need help though…when it’s something like supporting their business I might, but not when they need personal advice because I don’t know if it’s always in their best interest. Sometimes people just want their close friends to answer anyway.
    I rec comments when they reflect what I think, and/or when they are a good reaction to the post that gets read by many people anyway.

  •  Rec wortthy for me .. a post that makes me laugh, a person’s story that encourages, a great piece of writing, something informative, or just something cool .. like this post! Rec’d ;)

  • @I_love_Burma - Hehe I like 1 :)

    @Twiztidsilverskull - Yea get the news out sort of thing.

    @Cestovatelka - Yea I was really slow to start with the comments, but I’ve done a few…never my own though thats just odd :S

    @Lakakalo - Hehe Thanks for the Add :D

    @homealivein45 - Nice :) I often feel like supporting the efforts of poets on Xanga, many of them are so good.

    @wyckdstorm - Hmm yes I suppose the themes that get highlighted by Recs do help build the community too, good point.

    @ObscuredRendition - Well now I want to know what two posts were good enough to get you to Rec them ;)

    @opticalnoise - <3 This is amazingly kind of you ThankYou!! :D
    to answer your question I’m currently on 6,248….well 7,248 now Thank you again )))HUGS(((

    @fabolousclown - Hehe :D <3

    @passions_trapped - Makes sense, Thanks :)

    @under_the_carpet - Interesting, I agree that sometimes when folks need support they might not always want lots of attention from random bloggers. And yea lol I also sometimes worry about what my subs and friends will think of my Rec choices. I like your approach seems considerate :)

    @jennylovve - Good comment (I almost rec’d it ;) )

  • I rec for the same reasons you do.
    I’m not a rec’ing fool, but it’s fun to rec!
    And I just HAVE to rec this post on rec’ing!
    HUGS!

  • I usually rec something if I think it hits home and others could use reading it. Or if it is just written really well. I also hope for the same when it comes to something I write. To me, recs aren’t about popularity but more so about getting what you are writing out to someone who may need to read it. :)

  • to feed the trollz trololol

  • I rec any post that was good to read.

  • I try not to rec everything I like because too many recs waters them down and annoys my friends. I generally rec posts that are very well-written and express views that make me think or that reflect causes that I strongly agree with. I also rec blogs about topics that I’m passionate about (such as video games I like) or that are particularly humorous or inspirational. Sometimes I’ll rec something for a friend just because I think they need a rec. I try not to do too many a day though.

    I rarely rec comments, and when I do, it’s usually a longer one that makes a good addendum, comentary, or critique of the original post.

  • @BFB1131 - You’re welcome. :D

  • it’s been a long time since i’ve thought about REC, but that reminds me of the record button, lol. hope you’re doing well bede!

  • I hardly Rec posts, and when I do, it’s mostly because I wanna support or the post makes me smile. Sometimes I do it because the writer asked us so. :D

  • Coz’ i have nothin’ else to ‘press’ or ‘click’

  • I only rec posts when the content is original and informative or impressive (which is subjective). My standards for rec-ing are quite high. I rec comments that I think are funny or make a good point.

  • @AdamsWomanFell - Hehehe well thanks for the Rec :D

    @BrEnHoLtZ - Yea Thats a good way to look at it.

    @Cucumber_Melonhead - Well we wouldn’t want them to starve ;)

    @bmojsilo - Practical :) I like it!

    @Crono09 - Thanks :D great comment very clear and it mentioned Video Games, which is always good lol.

    @wyrdkismet - Hahaha wonderfully random comment :D I’m doing better since I read this hehe Thanks.
    I hope you’re not too busy at the moment…unless you’re busy writing because then you should be busier :P

    @kyalzinlay - Nice :D

    @PrincessDiyanaAleeya - Lol fair enough, for the love of buttons is as good a reason as any :)

  • @naughty_virgin - Nice, sounds like you put a lot of thought into the REC button. Good approach.
