I pray that i’m helping here and not just doing exactly what I’m worried about.
Okay there is a part of our human nature that responds to other people and their actions, in influence psychology is called ‘Social Proof’ and it can be Very powerful if you are unaware of it’s effects.
One of the examples given in Dr. Robert Chialdini’s book ‘Influence’ is that of what happens when a newspaper publishes news of someone committing suicide, apparently just the news alone can be enough to convince others to do the same. So much so in fact the pattern was noticed and such stories were limited.
So while I understand the need for posts to express the loss of a recent beautiful Xangan, I’m also concerned for the many users of this site that may also suffer from depression or other concerns that have taken them to the limit.
A sad thing has occurred but don’t let it fill you with darkness, instead be grateful for life, if you knew her be happy that you did and honour her memory with joy, if you didn’t then learn from her that we all must spread as much hope and kindness as possible perhaps then such things can be avoided.
And most important of all: If you’re feeling depression and your mind goes somewhere dark, please think twice, message me, message everyone you know or get on the phone, then give it a day. give your life every chance you can.
I love you.
I’m Sorry.
Please Forgive me.
Thank You.

I agree with you.
I’m so sorry for your loss Bede :’( and I totally agree with you <3
There is no romance in suicide. Only lives left unfinished. Questions left unanswered. And voids never to be filled.
But if her death prevents even one other person from stepping off that ledge, then it will not have been in vain. No one could have stopped her, but nonetheless we mourn her loss.
that is an intelligent post…I didn’t consider that. It’s often so that after the shock has worn down a little, I start thinking that if ohers people see no chance in their life, what am I supposed to see? I don’t think your post triggers that reaction if that’s what you fear.
Those who have passed on (by whatever means)…I try to live the rest of my life in their honor…remembering them…doing things to let them know they are not forgotten…
Your words here are SO important, Bede! Thank you for saying them! Yes, people need to keep talking until someone will listen and try to help them. It is so sad if they are in a place where they cannot reach out anymore.
But we must try every chance we get to reach out to everyone…even with just a smile. Who knows what that person we pass on the street is suffering with or thinking about.
HUGS!
Wonderful post. I hope many will listen!
For me, when I hear about a suicide, it has the opposite effect. I see what it does and it chases any seriously dark thoughts away. I completely understand what you’re saying though.
One person can really make a difference in these type of circumstances.
oh man, so much i wanna say on this topic, but i cannot bring myself to do it. i’m really glad you wrote this! you’re good people.
what happened?
hey bro. sorry for your loss. I know you and her were pretty close. it sucks and it hurts…
What a great post! <3
She have choices and she has chosen. Like it or not, accept it or not, we all should respect her decision. Be happy Andrea, where ever you’re now.
@iones_island - Fellow Xangan killed herself yesterday/last night.
We all have troubles, we all have problems, that’s why I’m being stupid, silly, naughty on my blog… as escapism from hurt and pain.
@emilyspiegler - :) Thanks.
@fabolousclown - Thank You Amalia, I don’t often feel much loss but this one was hard to deal with.
@ccrider17 - Very well said, we must look for whatever good there can be in such a terrible thing.
@under_the_carpet - Thank you for saying this
I really hope to just make people aware of the potential danger.
@AdamsWomanFell - Very well said! This is exactly what I feel aswell, there’s nothing that does their memory more justice than spreading somekind of joy.
@ShadesOfWynter - Thank you, me too
@HaphazardHuman - Thats good to hear, I’d not considered that it might have the opposite effect, but i’m very glad it does. Thanks for the Add
@Roadlesstaken - Yea, they can literally save a life. Or unfortunately be left wondering if they could have done more
@wyrdkismet - :) Thank you, I hope it helps in someway.
@iones_island - Someone on Xanga took their own life, I only knew them for a short while but it still had a heck of an impact.
@Cucumber_Melonhead - Thats the hardest thing I’d become close with her over such a short period, i’m left with so much i’d wanted to talk to her about
Thanks for your support.
@jennylovve - Thanks

@RestlessButterfly - Thank you, you’ve got a lot of sense in you Rez…even if you’re silly
@BFB1131 - you’re very welcome (: (: Check THIS though.
@fabolousclown - Yep the internet is quite something when it comes to the truth, makes the point of this post all the more important.
Because if you play around with things like this, you risk other peoples lives for your own amusment…very concerning.
@BFB1131 - You can’t trust anyone but madam Amalia :p
This is a good Act of kindness…
